In heavenly love abiding,
No change my heart shall fear,
And safe is such confiding,
For nothing changes here.
The storm may roar with out me,
My heart may low be laid,
But God is round about me,
How can I be dismayed?

Wherever He may guide me,
 No fear shall turn me back,
My shepherd is beside me,
And nothing shall I lack.
His wisdom ever waketh,
His sight is never dim;
He knows the way He taketh,
And I will walk with Him.

Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;
Bright skies will soon be o'er me,
Where darkest clouds have been.
My hope I cannot measure,
My path to life is free;
My savior is my treasure,
And He will walk with me.
-Anna L. Waring

My mom showed me this while I was packing up for college, and it has remained true since the day I left.  It's one of those sweet reminders of God's sovereignty-which I frequently need.  It is so easy for me to over think things and get all flustered and frustrated with myself.  I can 'what-if' myself in or out of just about any decision-and then I always feel stupid, because He's got it all under control.

"For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength." -1 Corinthians 1:25

Why in the world would I think my way is better than that of the God of the universe, and spend all my time freaking out trying to manipulate things to turn out in my favor?  All I have to do is trust and obey-regardless of if it makes sense to me or anyone else.

Psalm 27:13-14
"I am still confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord."

  1. Yeah, I hear you Tori. Chronic over thinker that I am, I constantly have to remind myself to shut up, sit down, and listen to God. Otherwise, I end up feeling like a total loser later. Good post.

New Shorts

So, if you are familiar with my life at all, you know that I have experienced some changes over the last year.  For example, I've had to buy some new pants. Actually, new shorts if you want to be specific.  It's because my favorite grey shorts (also known as the greytest shorts of all time) ripped.  In a big way.  Like, an into-the-trash-goodbye-forever kind of way.   Not even going to lie, I cried about it.  I bought those shorts the summer before freshman year at AU, and wore them probably three times a week any time it was warm enough outside. They fit PERFECTLY through semesters and summers, mission trips and vacations, bike rides and hikes. Seriously, the best shorts ever.  If I could have incorporated them into a quilt or something I so would've.  I share many many memories with those shorts!  We were friends. (Just kidding! ...sort of.)  I was in denial when they started to wear out a little, until it happened.  I...

Here goes nothing!

 So, I got the idea of starting a blog from my mom (who is a totally AMAZING woman of God), and after sleeping on it I decided it wasn't such a bad idea. I am simply going to share some of my life and things that I learn with the world.  Not that the whole world necessarily wants to know my daily thoughts, but anyone that does is welcome to whatever I share! Warning: I am a rabbit chaser, long winded, my grammar is also not that of a best-selling author, I misspell words, use dashes-commas-and ALL CAPS frequently and perhaps inappropriately, but that is okay. :) oh yeah-smileys too ;)  I do enjoy writing, and believe that God bestows gifts to us for us to use-so here goes nothing-hope you enjoy!   P.S.- I will not begin every entry with an awkward intro. That was just for today. :) Alright so I got laughed at by a REALLY cute guy today, and then God used it to teach me later (of course).  See, my roommate, Shelly, and I are walking back from the overflow...

beauty is on the tag of your jeans

*Insert heavy sigh*  Here we go...this is going to be a long one.  Get comfortable. Recently, a bit of controversy has surfaced surrounding a certain clothing store...*cough cough* ABERCROMBIE AND FITCH...not to name names or anything.  If you don't have a clue as to what I am talking about, apparently the company's CEO said some things a few years ago regarding the type of person they want to be seen wearing their brand and the sizes they will be carrying, and in doing so, offended A LOT of people.  Which is understandable.  Even if he was not trying to offend anyone or if the phrases were taken out of context in recent news, it sure does come off as pretty offensive no matter who you are. If you would like an explanation better than my generic synopsis you can look  Here ,  Here , or  Here . I will say that it almost seems silly for people to be getting worked up over it now.  I mean every advertisement for that store includes at le...
